When should I plan to I arrive?
Please arrive for registration between 3:00 and 5:00 pm on the day your retreat
begins. To ensure we are ready to greet you, please do not arrive earlier than 3:00 pm.
If you will be arriving later than 5:00 pm, please let us know by calling the Registration Office at (800)
398-2630 ext. 4.
When is the first meal of the retreat served?
Dinner is usually held at 6:00 pm for weekday arrivals, and at 7:30 pm on Shabbat. We are not able to hold dinner for late arrivals. If you will be arriving later than dinnertime, we suggest you eat before you arrive, as local dining options are limited.
When should I plan to depart?
You must be checked out of your room by 9:00 am on the day your retreat ends. Failure to check out of your room by 9:00 am will result in a $50 late charge. Unless otherwise noted, retreats end at 12:00 noon. Depending on the weekly schedule,
brunch or lunch will be provided on the last day of your retreat.
What do I need to bring to a retreat?
- We provide alarm clocks, bedding, soap and towels, though you might want to bring a beach towel if you plan to go in the pool or lake (in season only).
- Hiking boots, a flashlight and inclement weather gear are recommended.
- Ritual wear for services (kippot, tallisim, tefillin, etc.) is optional and is available at the center. Many of our guests wear white on Shabbat and holidays. Prayer books are provided, though you may choose to bring your own.
- Dress is casual. Please bring loose clothing for yoga.
- Please bring any prescription medications you will need for the duration of your stay.
Computer and Phone Access
We provide free wireless internet access in the main building. Two computer terminals
are also available in our lounge. Phone service is provided but calling cards are required
for long distance calls. Please come with your own calling card or purchase one in our
Because some of our guests have allergies, we kindly request that you avoid the use of
perfumes, colognes and scented oils. Please use only unscented body-care products.
Some unscented products are available in our bookstore.
Special Dietary Needs
We are able to accommodate a limited range of special dietary needs and food allergies, including wheat-free diets and lactose intolerance. Please call the Registration Office at (800) 398-2630 ext. 4 at least seven days prior to your arrival if you require such accommodations.
Receiving Phone Messages
Messages may be left for you during your retreat at (800) 398-2630 ext. 320. Messages left at this number are checked between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.
Being Reached in Case of an Emergency during the Day
In case of an emergency in which someone needs to reach you between the hours of 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, please have them call (800) 398-2630 ext. 320.
Being Reached in Case of an Emergency during the Night
In case of an emergency in which someone needs to reach you between the hours of 10:00 pm and 8:00 am, please have them call (860) 824-3068. Please note that this number is reserved for nighttime emergencies only, and will be answered by the retreat manager on duty. This number is not answered between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm.
If you are attending a meditation retreat...
- Silence is widely practiced during our meditation retreats, including at meals and other times outside the sessions. There are however, verbal one-to-one interviews and teaching periods.
- We have some chairs and cushions available for your use during meditation sessions, but we suggest you bring your favorite meditation cushion, backrest and/or blanket.
Payments made will be refunded in full (less a $50 processing fee) if you cancel more than 8 days prior to your arrival. If you cancel between 4 and 7 days prior to a retreat for which you have registered, either a non-refundable, non-transferable credit (less a $50 processing fee) will be held for one year from the date of issue or a 75% refund will be granted. Cancellations made less than 4 days prior to the start of a retreat are eligible for the value of up to 50% of the retreat costs in the form of a non-refundable, non-transferable credit (less a $50 processing fee) which will be held for one year from the date of issue. No credit or refund is available if you cancel within 24 hours of a retreat or on the retreat arrival day, if you do not show up, or if you leave a retreat early for any reason.

Isabella Freedman reserves the right to cancel any program at any time. In the event of such a cancellation, you will receive a complete refund.
Inclement Weather: Isabella Freedman reserves the right to cancel a retreat due to inclement weather if, in its judgment, it will be unable to operate safely. In the event of such a cancellation, a full refund will be made to all registrants. In the event that the retreat proceeds as scheduled, no refund or credit will be available.
