Mini-Vacations
for Adults with Mental Illness

June 4 – 7, 2012

June 11 – 14, 2012

Drawing on Isabella Freedman's founding mission to provide affordable country vacations to urban populations—namely, young Jewish garment factory workers—we collaborate with the National Alliance on Mental Illness to provide mini-vacations for clients of New York City and Connecticut social services agencies, including the Jewish Board of Family and Child Services, Catholic Charities and Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services.

For almost 20 years, this four-day, three-night program has provided a unique vacation experience and respite from participants' daily routines. Caseworkers say that the experience with nature, farming, music, arts and crafts and outdoor games is highly therapeutic. Entertainment includes poolside barbecues, magic shows, live animal demonstrations and karaoke. Guests who come for these mini-vacations thoroughly enjoy their experience and look forward to returning each year. Currently we run two mini-vacations in June for 75 - 100 guests per trip.
